The Prayerful Quilt Raffle: Helping Those Near Your Parish

  • St. Peter's Anglican Church (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Dear Fellow Christians,

Linda Brown from St. Augustine’s Church in Chico, CA has gifted a gorgeous quilt she created to be raffled so you and a few other continuing church parishes can raise money to donate to a charitable cause of your church’s choice. The other women at St. Augustine’s also send their blessings and encouragement that this special quilt will prayerfully connect those of us across the country who cannot meet in person to unite in love for those in our communities who are in need of help and support.

Linda’s vision is for you to help a woman in need in your local community, but she has told me that she would like each parish to choose whom you will help based on what you think would be best in your community. Even if someone from another parish wins the raffle, your own local cause will benefit because ALL monies collected from your church will be kept in your own parish for you to distribute.

In a lower corner of the quilt (on the back) Linda has attached the embroidered praise and prayer cross and message, He is Risen - Walking with God Together - Jesus I Trust in You. Linda has put much prayer and love into this professionally sewn quilt, and whoever ends up with it will have a beautiful daily reminder that we are sacramentally connected to each other through Our Lord, our Faith, and His presence with us in both time and eternity.

Quilts have a unique artistic and expressive significance and history in America, so it seems fitting that this should continue in our Anglican parishes as an expression and furthering of the love of Our Lord for those he created and loves.

A Quick Report on the IAF

www.iaftac.org

A newsletter of the missionary arm of the Traditional Anglican Communion

TO say that 2017 was a busy year for our Fellowship would be a slight understatement. As we begin 2018, I find myself reflecting on key events that have occurred, their impact, and diversity. On the one hand, we met our goal of purchasing a vehicle for Bp. Andrew Mukuyamba in Zambia several weeks ahead of schedule. On the other, the disaster that Hurricane Maria dealt our brothers and sisters in Puerto

Rico touched off a rally by our Anglican community to send support to Bp. Juan Garcia, Ordinary of the Diocese of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean (DPRC). More detailed information on both of these efforts is contained in this newsletter.

Suffice it to say that, once again, selfless generosity has been the driving force behind the Fellowship’s ability to help meet both a need and a crisis. I am, along with many others I am sure, both honored and humbled to be a part of these two wonderful though disparate efforts. Somewhere in between there, we reached a notable milestone by welcoming our 50th Sustaining Member, St. Barnabas’ Parish in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Thanks to everyone who has helped keep our Fellowship growing and filling a need in so many different places around the world. Thanks again to Father Glenn Galenkamp, St. Barnabas, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, for his help in formatting this newsletter.

God bless,

Erv Lischke, Executive Director

Morning Prayer Service (Sexagesima)

Sexagesima: The second Sunday before Lent  and hence the eighth before Easter. Its name, formed on the analogy of Quinquagesma and Septuagesima and goes back certainly to the 6th century. It is also known in the west, from the opening words of the introit, as Exsurge Sunday.  The traditional Old Testament Lesson for this Sunday is the narrative of the Fall (Gen. 3).
